The Somerset Distillery
Based in Burrow Hill in Somerstet,
the Somerset Distillery is the only distillery in the UK
making traditional Cider Brandy.
At Burrow Hill, there is a display of old copper stills (the working stills are 2 miles away, protected by 68 locks and seals by order of HM Customs and Excise). In the ciderhouse there is cider and Cider Brandy to sample amongst the oak vats, barrels and presses - all the paraphernalia associated with 150 years of cidermaking.
In March 2003 The Somerset Cider
Brandy Company won the Great British Food Award.
This award is sponsored by the National Farmers Union,
Sainsburys and the BBC Good Food Magazine.
The award was presented in London for what the judges
said was a 'unique range of high quality apple
products'. |
