Originally, brose was a traditional Scots family drink made daily using ingredients readily available on the croft - whisky, oatmeal, cream, sometimes honey, sometimes fruit. The whisky was often distilled in secret, illicit stills which proliferated on the rugged and inaccessible coastline of the Western Highlands and Islands. In the summer of 1995 we moved the manufacture and sales operation from the Island of Mull to our visitor centre in Bankfoot, Perthshire. The success of Columba Cream Liqueur stimulated the company into producing new, original liqueurs - ideal for today's tastes. Research and development over the period of a year led to the creation of Bruadar Liqueur - an amber coloured liqueur which perfectly complements Columba Cream.
One of the key ingredients of Bruadar is carefully prepared sloeberries enough to balance out the sweetness of the honey but not so many as to impart bitterness. The connoisseur will appreciate the maturation of the liqueur in the bottle. Once the bottle is opened, over a period of months the sweetness of the honey is rounded off and the taste of the sloes comes to the fore. |

BUCKSHOT is a clear bouillon made in the old fashioned way by gently simmering a carefully selected mix of various game, vegetables and a bouquet garni of herbs.
When the full flavour has been extracted, the juices are taken off and clarified. We add a special blend of spices, a little chilli sauce and a dash of sherry and lemon juice.
You may prefer to serve it as it is. But perhaps more usually, whether to be enjoyed piping hot from a flask or on a cold wintry day in a shooting field, at the races, on a boat or the river bank, or ice cold and crystal clear on the rocks as a cocktail, just add a measure or two of vodka or sherry to a can of our bouillon and you wil have made the perfect BUCKSHOT! |
